Doing this shoot presented a bit of a conundrum for me. On one hand, I had this idea to do a a sweet little Valentine's set up with my daughter, but on the other hand...she is very difficult to photograph. She definitely has "photographer kid syndrome". I've taken so many photos of her from day 1 that she completely and utterly ignores me when I have my camera in hand. I can literally throw things at her and she won't look at me lol. She also doesn't like staying where I put her, or sitting still for longer than 3 seconds (like most kids her age), which makes it all the more difficult when I photograph her by myself while her dad is at work. The candy, though it kept her occupied, presented a challenge as well: keeping it off her pink chair and the white fur floor drop. I went through a lot of baby wipes, she ate a lot more candy than she normally would be allowed, I got really stressed out, she got really stressed out...but in the end, I really love the results :). I hope you do too!
I've been waiting all winter for a snowy day with big beautiful flakes to photograph! We finally had one as "Winter Storm Juno" passed through :) Beautiful flakes like this make cold winter days a little more bearable. I took several of my knitted scarves out to catch the flakes, it was a lot of fun!
Charlotte and Cecelia are 1! I've already had the pleasure of photographing these adorable sisters a few times, but this was definitely the most fun. Their mom, Jenny, sent me a couple photos of the outfits they'd be wearing and I came up with the backdrops based on that. I'm a big fan of skirts made of fabric strips (check out the one I made for my daughter here!) I've spent a lot of time looking at fabric, so I knew exactly where to find the same fabric they used! While I was picking it up, I ran across the pretty pink fabric I used for their pink/black outfits! The outfits and accessories that Jenny put together were so perfect :) I loved watching the girls dig into their smash cakes. Apparently Charlotte was less than excited about the previous 2 cakes that she's had at her other birthday celebrations, but she happily put her hand into the cake first! By the time they were finished, there was cake and frosting everywhere. Not so fun for their dad to clean up, but so cute to photograph! |
