I hope to be the photographer you choose in 2015!
Happy New Year!
As the year is drawing to a close, I wanted to take the time to thank everyone that helped make 2014 a great year. I'm so grateful to all my clients that gave me the opportunity to photograph them and their families as I worked to build up my portfolio. Taking my photography to the next level and offering my services to the public has been scary, challenging and nerve wracking at times, but it's also been a fantastic chance to learn and grow. I'm definitely at my happiest when I'm helping people capture memories :)
I hope to be the photographer you choose in 2015! Happy New Year! I became good friends with Bridget's mom, Katie, when we worked together as cake decorators. I miss seeing her at work, so I'm always up for an opportunity to get together :). I offered to take Bridget's first birthday photos as a gift, and to gain experience with doing indoor shoots (I'd much rather be outdoors any day!). So I brought over my lighting equipment, props and backdrop and set it up in her dining room. I came up with the idea for the backdrop based on a photo Katie sent me of the outfit Bridget would be wearing. I made tissue paper poms and a scalloped garland using paint chips. Here is the photo I used as my inspiration. I think the setup turned out pretty cute! Happy 1st Birthday Bridget! My daughter came with me and spent a lot of time walking back and forth between Bridget and I. She is 4 months and 4 days older than Bridget, and hopefully they will be good friends one day too! She finally decided she needed to be in some photos too, so I snapped a few of them interacting. I love the first one where Bridget looks both curious and annoyed at the fact that Lyla is interrupting her shoot :) "Finally finished, happy birthday to me! Woo!"
Jim and Carley are our best friends, and when Carley invited us to take a trip to the new Christkindlmarket in Oakbrook, I knew I wanted to get some photos of them for Christmas this year. I figured there was bound to be something cool at the market to use a backdrop, and I was right! There were actually several really nice spots, but my daughter was being less than cooperative which made stopping for photos very difficult. I fell in love with this tree as soon as I saw it. The branches are so unique, like big puffy pipe cleaners or something! It made for an incredible backdrop :)
