I love the colors and decorations for Valentine's Day, and I've really been wanting to do Valentine's mini sessions! The problem is living in the midwest in February ;) I don't have a studio space or (usually) room in my home, so indoor sessions aren't (usually) an option. However, since my in-laws will be remodeling their living room soon, it is pretty empty and I was able to set up a makeshift studio! I'm glad I got to see some of my favorite repeat clients again too :)
Doing this shoot presented a bit of a conundrum for me. On one hand, I had this idea to do a a sweet little Valentine's set up with my daughter, but on the other hand...she is very difficult to photograph. She definitely has "photographer kid syndrome". I've taken so many photos of her from day 1 that she completely and utterly ignores me when I have my camera in hand. I can literally throw things at her and she won't look at me lol. She also doesn't like staying where I put her, or sitting still for longer than 3 seconds (like most kids her age), which makes it all the more difficult when I photograph her by myself while her dad is at work. The candy, though it kept her occupied, presented a challenge as well: keeping it off her pink chair and the white fur floor drop. I went through a lot of baby wipes, she ate a lot more candy than she normally would be allowed, I got really stressed out, she got really stressed out...but in the end, I really love the results :). I hope you do too!
