I still can't believe how completely different this day was compared to the first day of Hot Cocoa Stand minis only 6 days earlier. This winter storm dumped the most snow our area has had in November in over 100 years, and I was right out in the middle of it! Though I was freezing and soaked nearly up to my waist from trudging through snow to get the angles I wanted, I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity and good fortune to shoot with this setup that day. I know the families were really excited about it too (the ones that were still able to make it out at least). The pine trees in the background were so perfect that they look like a fake backdrop! And all the snowflakes are real, no need for snow overlays with the way it was coming down!
I was so excited for this mini session!! I had so much fun finding the perfect pieces to style it. We were lucky enough to have bright sun and warm weather even though it was a very windy day. Everything turned out exactly how I had it in my head, and the kids seemed to have a lot of fun!
Jim and Carley are our best friends, and when Carley invited us to take a trip to the new Christkindlmarket in Oakbrook, I knew I wanted to get some photos of them for Christmas this year. I figured there was bound to be something cool at the market to use a backdrop, and I was right! There were actually several really nice spots, but my daughter was being less than cooperative which made stopping for photos very difficult. I fell in love with this tree as soon as I saw it. The branches are so unique, like big puffy pipe cleaners or something! It made for an incredible backdrop :)
