Lyla - 12 Days of Christmas Countdown // Styled Mini Session // St. Charles, IL Photographer11/27/2015 One of my clients wanted to do a Christmas countdown with her mini session photos, so I decided I wanted to do it too! It was really fun and I think people got a kick out of seeing me post them on Facebook ever day! There's also a bonus video of her being adorable at the end of this post :) We were so fortunate to have SNOW as an extra backdrop for this day of mini sessions! However, it was SO incredibly cold. I believe it hovered between 20-25 degrees the whole day. Plus it was windy! I felt so bad for the kiddos, but for the most part they were really tough about it. I had hand warmers in my pockets, but didn't have much time to hold onto them. I did run to a nearby restroom for a few minutes because it felt like a sauna in there! One of my clients came back with hot chocolate. That was AWESOME and really helped get me through the last few sessions. Overall, I liked having the shelter of the 3-sided barn that I used, but it certainly wasn't enough to keep us warm!
I still can't believe how completely different this day was compared to the first day of Hot Cocoa Stand minis only 6 days earlier. This winter storm dumped the most snow our area has had in November in over 100 years, and I was right out in the middle of it! Though I was freezing and soaked nearly up to my waist from trudging through snow to get the angles I wanted, I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity and good fortune to shoot with this setup that day. I know the families were really excited about it too (the ones that were still able to make it out at least). The pine trees in the background were so perfect that they look like a fake backdrop! And all the snowflakes are real, no need for snow overlays with the way it was coming down!
