So I have been waiting to do this massive photo project since long before my daughter was even conceived. I ran across this blog post from the sweet folks over at Young House Love that chronicled their daughter Clara's first year (and beyond) in weekly photos. I knew right away that it was something I wanted to do with my future child! So here it is.....the homage to Clara's Weekly Photo Project that became a massive undertaking (let's just say Lyla did NOT like laying on her back after awhile lol). I was both excited and sad to finally finish it. It's so satisfying to look back and see how she changed over the weeks. I also posted the images on my personal Facebook page each week. As the week went on, I would go back to that week's image and add details about what she was doing that week. It was such a great way to chronicle her first year, and I'll treasure it forever <3.
Check out how I used the fabrics to make her a skirt and backdrop decorations HERE. My daughter turned 1 today! Her party isn't until Saturday, but I just had to do a smash cake session with her :) I used the fabric from her weekly photo backgrounds to make her a tutu, a hair clip, and two garlands for the backdrop. I couldn't be happier with how these turned out! And I"m glad she had fun playing with her cake (even though she was super delicate with it at first). Here is a small collage of all her weekly photos. Check them all out HERE. I also made her cake, the plate that it's on and her party hat :) One of the greatest joys in my life was the day I found out I was having a little girl. As soon as I had my baby showers, I started hitting yard sales and picking up all the cute little outfits I could find :) It was SO much fun! I learned two things once my daughter was born. 1) I bought way too many clothes and 2) I regretted nothing :). So knowing that she would be quickly growing out of them, and possibly only wearing each outfit once or twice, I started taking photos of her wearing each and every outfit. I laid one of her receiving blankets on her bouncy seat for awhile, but once she started to outgrow the seat I taped the blanket to the floor. Toward the end of the year she REALLY didn't want to lay down for the photos anymore, so I started giving her toys to hold. I wish I had done that the whole time because I could have captured all of those as well!
